It wouldn’t be the 4th of July without a semi-patriotic track to jam out to today. Ok, I wouldn’t say it’s really patriotic at all, but it is one to vibe to while grilling some burgers and drinking beer. After months of buzz and anticipation, the underaged New Yorker Joey BADA$$ drops his mixtape 1999. His accent into the spotlight really started when Odd Future “critiqued” his video “Survival Tactics.” There is already a lot of hype surrounding this kid being seen as the savior of true New York hip-hop. Though that may be much to ask for at the moment, 1999 is a great starting point. Check out the young dudes project.

I caught wind of Joey Bada$$ by accident on YouTube. A couple of days later I saw him on MTV as this video was being critiqued by Odd Future. For those who yearn for the good ol’ days of New York hip-hop then pay attention to this kid. He is scheduled to drop his first mixtape , 1999, soon. I can’t wait to see what else this kid has in store.
